Primary Living Room - The Plan

I guess the cats out of the bag; I love primary colors! I briefly played with pink in my last project but here I am back on the saddle again with ol’ faithfuls: red, yellow and blue. Can you blame me? This Spoonflower wallpaper is what started it all. It’s not uncommon for me to design an entire room around a single material, which is why I keep my studio stocked with the latest samples!

To be fair, this wallpaper isn’t exactly a primary shade of blue (think: rubik’s cube blue) but its more of a cornflower blue and the cream background really softens it up. I can’t wait to see how it looks behind the brass bamboo etageres.

I’m also excited to feature some pillows and an X-Bench from the Inside ! I will be using these French yellow linen pillows to liven up a pair of beige accent chairs. For the opposite side of the room, I will be playing with some surprising juxtapositions by incorporating this leopard X bench under an antique piano. It’s unexpected and will totally pack a punch!

Add some playful art from Artfully Walls, and this room is starting to feel elegant, but with a sense of humor.

I’m taking some risks with this project, which is always kind of a thrill and totally has me biting my nails at the same time! One being this antique rug that is currently in route from Turkey. Rugs are the most difficult to predict, but especially when they are vintage. The description said it was red and purple. I’m hoping it’s just a true, deep red color with some slight blue undertones. Fingers crossed on this one.

And now I’m off to paint my window panes glossy black! Can a window be sexy? We are about to find out.
